Triangle Printers: Fifty Years and Facing Forward

SKOKIE, IL (ContentDesk) July 7, 2005 -- The year was 1955. Dwight Eisenhower occupied the Oval Office. Jonas Salk discovered the polio vaccine, "Rock Around The Clock" topped the music charts, and the average cost of an American home was $22,000. It was also the year that 23-year-old Harvey Saltzman withdrew $250 from his meager savings and founded Triangle Printers ? then just a crowded little desk in a shared office on Chicago's north side.Today - 50 years later - Saltzman's small investment has blossomed into a business that is a leader in the graphic arts industry. The company now occupies a modern, 50,000 square foot production facility with 50 employees, serving clients of all sizes from across the country."When I started Triangle," Saltzman reflects, "I couldn't have imagined the digital age of today.

Back then, the sales process was literally door-to-door, letterpress was the reigning technology of the day, and offset printing was a new concept. Looking back, it's hard to believe how far our profession has come."Over the years, Triangle has adapted to the industry's technological advances as well as to its clients' needs, steadily evolving into a full service graphic arts provider with complete electronic prepress, digital and conventional printing services. The company has also added several new facets to its service offerings, including strategic planning, photography, copywriting & design, mailing, fulfillment, media management and broadcast creative/production. "The way I see it," explains Saltzman, "if you don't adapt, you probably don't survive? and you definitely don't grow."And Saltzman, ever mindful of his modest roots, hardly takes sole credit for Triangle's hard-won success."I was just the architect, really. The people who actually built the company ? and who keep it going so successfully today ? are our staff, many of whom have been with us for 25 years or more.

And of course, we owe everything to our clients, without whose support, confidence and loyalty we would have long since faded into oblivion like so many other family-owned businesses have over the years."While Saltzman continues at the strategic and sales helm of the company, two of his children - son David and daughter Bonnie - have taken on much of the day-to-day leadership responsibilities."David and I are extremely proud to be able to carry on the traditions our father began in 1955, and we look forward to taking Triangle into its next 50 years," said Bonnie. "Triangle has been a labor of love all our lives, and we're 100% committed to keeping the legacy alive for generations to come."Asked if a well-deserved retirement is in his plans, Saltzman is pensive."To be honest, I don't think I'd be truly happy in retirement. Lately, I'm trying to take a little more time off to do some of the things I've always wanted to, but Triangle is so deeply woven into my life that I can't see myself simply walking away. I suppose if the work ever stops being challenging and fun, I'd think about it, but I can't see that happening anytime soon. There's still too much to look forward to."About TriangleTriangle Printers Inc.

Boston, MA (ContentDesk) February, 9 2006 -- Photo websites like Snapfish, Kodaks EasyShare Gallery, Shutterfly, and Yahoo Photos are great for sharing and printing some of your favorite pictures.
But as Bill Bulkeley said in his recent article in the Wall Street Journal, The Downside of Photo-Storage Sites, If users don't follow the conditions for service -- often disclosed only in the fine print -- their photographs could wind up getting deleted. On these websites, you typically have to purchase prints from time to time in order to avoid having your uploaded pictures deleted.
For example, Kodak's online EasyShare Gallery quietly added a provision last year that requires users to pay $2.49 per month to avoid having their pictures deleted if they dont order prints.
However, most people have far too many photos on their hard drives to use services like EasyShare, Snapfish, or Yahoo Photos for backup.

Do you remember the family vacation to Disneyland when you were 12? What about your parent's 20-year anniversary? Or your birthday party when you turned 15? The new house you moved into in 8th grade? High school graduation? All those family memories from family events -- all those moments in time, now past.A family journal is a book, or a series of books, where family members can journal about any event that has taken place. For example, there could be one individual journal that you take to every family reunion to capture current events year to year. It could have photos, memorabilia and journal entries from those who attended the reunion. The journal could also include letters, announcements and other updates from family members.
